Villa Gina is it an exception – it is the so called “Villa d’Epoca” (Villa epoch) of the 18th century with the most luxurious blooming garden, where we offer you to spend your vacation surrounded by authentic historical interiors blended with modern comfort.
Villa Gina is located on the border of Argegno, in one of the most beautiful and cultivated valleys of the province of Como – Intelvi Valley, which connects Lake Como with Lake Lugano, Switzerland.
The villa was built in 1766 by an aristocratic Austrian family and was named after the owner Contessa Gina, who later became the main character of Stendhal’s novel “The Monastery of Parma”.
At the end of the IX century, the villa came into the possession of the family of the famous Italian artist Baldassare Longoni , his paintings are preserved in the villa, as well as the central street of the ancient town of Dizzasco, where the Villa is located, is named in his honor.
In 2011, Villa Gina was completely restored, the original stucco and ceilings were reconstructed , the floors were replaced the handmade tiles and rare types of marble, which no longer exist. Now the walls are decorated with frescoes in the old Italian technique of graffiti, the work was commissioned to the famous maestro, who is normally and exclusively engaged in the restaurant of architectural monuments. The hall and the Small Living Room are decorated with handmade wallpaper-boards, the original stamps of which are now protected by UNESCO and date back to the beginning of the 17th century.
The fireplace room and all the bedrooms are decorated with natural silks boards produced by the best family manufactories on Lake Como. The MURANO chandelier of the 18th century decorated the Chinese Embassy in Paris (a unique sample, which exists in the only one copy in the world) and now adorns the villa Gina with its brilliance.
The 800 sq. m villa is located in a quiet location in the Valley Intelvi, surrounded by a blossoming in any season garden with rare ancient trees, it offers a breathtaking views of Lake Como. The villa consists of nine spacious rooms with wall size windows, each with a unique view on the lake and mountains. On the ground floor of the villa there is a spacious terrace with views of Lake Como, a spacious hall, a living room with a fireplace, a dining room, a kitchen with a fireplace, a bathroom. On the second and third floor there are 3 bedrooms and bathrooms. The spacious kitchen with an old fireplace is equipped with all modern equipment.
The current owners are passionate about Italian history, and this is reflected in every detail of the villa, which is full of authentic art objects: paintings by Italian artists, silk tapestries, antique furniture with the coats of arms of the oldest families in Italy , Murano glass chandeliers of different shapes and sizes light every corner of the villa full of history , creating a sense of luxury and allowing you to escape from everyday life and feel yourself in the 18th century.
